UTRERA LAW
Built on Expertise
OUR PRACTICE

Construction law is at the foundation of what we do. We represent a broad range of clients including developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, design professionals, and most other parties involved in the construction and development industries. From the day-to-day guidance on a project to the high-stakes litigation that could arise following a dispute, Utrera Law guides and zealously advocates for its clients in many areas.
CONSTRUCTION CLAIMS AND LITIGATION
We handle every phase and all types of construction litigation, having represented some of the largest names in the construction industry and litigated countless complex cases. Whether a defect claim, claim for payment, bid claim, or any other construction matter, we have the experience and knowledge needed to obtain the best possible results for our clients after disputes arise.
COMMERCIAL/BUSINESS
LITIGATION
We represent clients in complex commercial and business disputes surrounding the construction and development industries. Our experience includes cases involving breach of contract, partnership and joint venture disputes, construction-related business torts, fraud, and payment claims. We advocate for clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, and mediation, combining deep industry knowledge with strategic litigation experience to protect our clients’ business and financial interests.
ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATION
GENERAL COUNSEL
Our firm serves as trusted general counsel to clients across the entire construction industry—providing legal and practical guidance from project conception through completion. We counsel owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals on risk management, contracts, compliance, and dispute resolution, ensuring their interests are protected at every stage of the construction process.
LIEN DISPUTES
With a deep understanding of Florida’s Construction Lien Law, we represent clients in all aspects of lien and payment disputes, including the prosecution and defense of lien foreclosure actions, claims of lien transfer and discharge, bond claims, and priority disputes between lienors and lenders. Our team advises owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on preserving and enforcing lien rights, complying with statutory notice requirements, and resolving payment conflicts efficiently to minimize project disruption and financial exposure.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND REGULATORY
Representing condominium and homeowner associations in construction related matters requires a unique understanding of how the two areas of law interact. With significant experience in representing associations, we understand that interaction. Whether a construction defect claim, project management or contract review, we regularly work with construction matters affecting associations.
We assist clients before state and local agencies on matters involving construction licensing, permitting, code compliance, and regulatory enforcement. Our practice assists with issues surrounding the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB), defending disciplinary actions, and securing and maintaining contractor and professional licenses essential to operating in Florida’s construction industry.
OUR VISION
At Utrera Law, we take pride in being more than just lawyers. We are trusted advisors and partners who understand the business of construction and development. Our boutique approach is built on relationships, not billable hours. We believe that great counsel means helping clients focus on what they do best: building and creating, not getting lost in red tape or legal overcomplication.

Every client and every project is unique. We take the time to understand your goals, your business, and the practical realities driving your work. Our role is to simplify the complex, provide clear and strategic guidance, and protect your interests so you can move forward with confidence.

At Utrera Law, success is measured by our clients’ ability to keep their projects moving and their businesses thriving — because when our clients build, we succeed together.
